Alonso’s homer gives South All-Stars win

Mallards infielder hits three-run shot

MEQUON, WI — Madison Mallards infielder Pete Alonso hit a three-run homer as the South beat the North 3-0 in the Northwoods League All-Star Game at Kapco Park in Mequon Tuesday night.

Alonso hit the the homer off Alexandria pitcher Waterloo pitcher Andrew Thome for the only runs of the game.

The South had only three hits all night against North pitching.

Green Bay’s Roberto Baroniel was the winning pitcher.

Mallards closer Tim Black retired the side in the ninth for the save.

The Mallards resume the Northwoods League regular season Thursday night against the Lakeshore Chinooks at Kapco Park.
