Allied Park officially opens Friday

MADISON, Wis. — Allied Park on Madison’s southside is opening Friday, according to a news release from the City of Madison.
There will be a public ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the new park. Mayor Paul Soglin and Alder Maurice Cheeks will be attending the celebration, according to the release.
The event will include a walk or complimentary haywagon ride to the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County for the Community Meal, according to the release.
Allied Park was planned and designed in collaboration with the community with a focus on youth engagement. The one-acre park has a full-sized basketball court, an open-sided reservable picnic shelter with a Wi-Fi hotspot, a playground, a drinking fountain, youth hoops and four square courts, according to the release.
