Alice C. Winkers

Alice C. Winkers, of Highland, passed away on her 74th birthday at Bloomfield Healthcare following a brief illness. The former Alice Biba was born on May 24, 1938 at home in Castle Rock Township to John and Caroline (Kuchar) Biba. Alice was a 1956 graduate of the Muscoda High School. She married Wilson Winkers of Highland on July 15, 1959 at St. John Nepomuc Catholic Church. The couple farmed side by side, on Farmer’s Ridge until retiring to Highland in 1997. Alice was a dedicated member of Ss. Anthony & Philip Parish where she was active in the Altar Society and the Sunshine Club. Alice enjoyed playing cards and bingo, volunteering in the community and doing word searches. She will also be remembered for her wonderful cooking and baking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; two brothers, William and Donald Biba; two sisters-in-law, Sharon and Blanche Biba and two brothers-in-law, Omer and Alois Menke.

Alice is survived by her husband, Wilson of Highland; two sisters, Lorraine Menke and Fran Menke, both of Highland; Wilson’s siblings, Mary (Bill) Stanek of Muscoda; William (Bonnie) Winkers of Spring Green and Dianne (John) Kohout of Castle Rock; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Biba of Spring Green as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church in Highland. Fr. Kenneth J. Frisch will officiate with burial in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday after 10:00 A.M. Memorials to the Ss. Anthony & Philip Project Now or the Highland Rescue Squad would be greatly appreciated.
