Alcohol likely factor in fatal Fitchburg crash that killed 25-year-old man, authorities say

FITCHBURG, Wis. — One person was killed early Monday morning when they were ejected from their vehicle during a crash on County Highway MM.
Authorities with the Fitchburg Police Department said they responded to the 2500 block of County Highway MM, located between Irish Lane and Haight Farm Road, around 4:45 a.m.
When they arrived, first responders found the driver, a 25-year-old man, had been ejected from the vehicle after it hit a utility pole and rolled over.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
A preliminary investigation revealed alcohol and speed were likely factors in the crash.
County Highway MM was closed until just before 8:30 a.m. while crews cleared the debris and conducted their investigation.
The crash is still under investigation by the Fitchburg Police Department and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office helped with the initial investigation.
