MADISON- Albert Ascher, age 84, ended his journey, Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013,from natural causes while peacefully sleeping. He was born Jan. 11, 1929, to parents John and Mina Ascher. Albert was employed at Oscar Mayer for 40 years, retiring in 1985. Albert enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and Friday night fish fry’s. In the past 15 years, his great enjoyment was signing up on as many football pools as possible. He was lucky much of the time giving him that incentive to keep the fun going. For many years Albert enjoyed hanging out at the local establishments around Madison’s east side.

Albert is survived by his three children, Ron and Steve (Chris) Ascher, Julie (Pat) Aubut of Stoughton; two sisters, Anna Lou (Bob) Reuschier of Florida and Margaret Wenger of Lodi; five grandchildren, David and Paul Ascher, Michael, Kevin and Nichole Aubut; and his companion for the past 17 years, Ethel. Albert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne; his parents; five brothers, Fred, Roger, Raymond, Richard and John; and two sisters, Edna and Emaline.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, with the Rev. Dustin Krystowiak presiding. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences may be made to www.gundersonfh.com .
