Alan Norman Acker

EDGERTON / MIDDLETON – Alan N. “A-Train” Acker, age 70, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at Oregon Health Care. Al passed after an 18-month duration with renal cell cancer. He was born March 5, 1952, in Madison, to Albert and Lorraine (Meffert) Acker. Al graduated from Middleton High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard. Alan was a commercial truck driver for many years. He enjoyed landscaping, family gatherings and plowing snow in his neighborhood in his spare time.
Al is survived by his siblings, James (Jim) Acker, Gary (Shelia) Acker, Karen Greiber of Waunakee, Bob (Beverly) Acker of Poynette, Anita Allison and LuAnn (Steve) Chandler of Madison; nieces and nephews, Paul and Randy Acker, Renee (Fred) Ciccione, Melissa (Chad) Koci, Wendy (Greg) Sprecher, Tammy Acker, Kelly (Art) Endres, Matthew and Michael Allison, Ashley (Justin) Ballweg, Bridget (Austin) Schoenherr, Devon (Katie) Greiber, Casie (Jon) Ernst and Zachary Chandler; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lorraine Acker; in-laws, Letty Acker, Ken Allison and Marv Greiber; and all aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, with Father Brian Wilk presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the Mass on Wednesday.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oregon Health and Heartland Hospice for the care given to our brother Alan in his final days. Special thank you to Rachel and Aaron for helping Al when it was needed the most.
