Agnes (nee Greenwood) Brinkman

MADISON – Agnes (nee Greenwood) Brinkman, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016.

She was born on Aug. 11, 1925, in Reedsburg, the daughter of Benjamin and Eva Greenwood. Agnes was united in marriage to Edward Brinkman on Aug. 23, 1947, in Madison. She worked for many years at the Madison School district, as a cook, to help support her children through college.

Agnes loved gardening and canning and she was a skilled cook. She was well known for her baked beans and potato salad and no family gathering was complete without a pie. Agnes truly loved caring and cooking for her family and others. She will be deeply missed.

Agnes is survived by her children, Linda (Rich) Brinkman-Somers, Gary (the late Cyndy) Brinkman and Connie (Michael) Gabriel; grandchildren, Doug (Maggie) Brinkman, Alison (Matt Middaugh) Brinkman, Nathan Gabriel, Adam (Kristin) Gabriel and Stephanie Gabriel; great-grandson, Eddie Brinkman; great-granddaughter, Elise Gabriel; brother-in-law, Ivan Fleming; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Otto. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers and sister; and brother-in-law, Bob Brinkman.

Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison, at noon, on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, with the Rev. Mark Bartels presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
