ACA phone bank answers more than 500 viewers’ questions

Enrollment help available daily at Dane County Job Center

MADISON, Wis. — More than 500 viewers called in or contacted experts Tuesday with questions about signing up for the Affordable Care Act during WISC-TV’s phone bank.

Like it or not, health care changes are coming and they’re coming fast, and as a last push about a dozen community partners are working together to help those with questions.

“This phone bank has been a great opportunity for partners in Dane County to pull together and make sure our Dane County residents know what’s going on. So that’s been great,” Coverings Kids and Family Director Molly Bandt said.

Bandt said there’s a list of frequently asked questions, including cost, BadgerCare and people looking to insure their adult children.

Even though the phone bank is over, health experts said they expect and hope the calls keep coming.

“Most people will have to have it, or they will face a penalty at tax time. The time is now to enroll. Don’t get discouraged if you find it confusing,” Bandt said.
