Aaron Nathan Smith

JANESVILLE—-Aaron N. Smith, age 40, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at his parent’s home after a long illness. He was born on June 18, 1972, in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Carroll and Linda (Dunbar) Smith. He was born with Angelman’s Syndrome and throughout his lifetime cheerfully faced many challenges, but he always had a smile on his face, a sparkle in his eyes and a loving spirit. Aaron loved music, especially Christian music; watching videos and being around family and friends. He graduated from Parker High School in 1993. For the past fifteen years Aaron resided at the REM Jonathon House Group Home where he was known as “Bubba” to his caring staff and friends. He also greatly enjoyed attending his day program at Community Connections where he thrived.
Aaron will be missed by his beloved family which includes his parents, Carroll and Linda Smith of Janesville; brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Amy Smith of Akron, OH; he was lovingly referred to as “Uncle A” by his nephew, Joshua Smith of Akron. OH; 3 nieces: Ashlyn, Marissa and Ilyssa Smith all of Akron, OH; grandmother, Phyllis Dunbar of South Bend, IN; aunts and uncles, Debra and Dan Marsh of Quincy, MI, Edward and Lucy Smith of Wilmington, NC, Charlette Ziegler of Hillsdale, MI, Carol and Robert Hayes of Mishawaka, IN, Nancy Reed of South Bend, IN and Charles Dunbar of South Bend, IN; cousins, Michele (David) Wiseley, Matthew (Stacie) Green, Janel (Mike) Redman, Joe Goschka, Cassandra Salego, Kurt and Bryant Ziegler, Kristin (Mauricio) Lenz, Michael Marsh, Colin, Devin and Connor Smith. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ellsworth and Ann Smith of Hillsdale, MI; maternal grandfather, Charles Dunbar of South Bend, IN; and cousin, Derick Ziegler.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012, at BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 3300 Mt. Zion Ave., Janesville with Rev. Tim Erickson officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1800 E. Racine St., Janesville, and again prior to the funeral service on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH. Memorial gifts may be given to Bethel Baptist Church or to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc.
