7 Janesville businesses cited on suspicion of selling tobacco to minors

JANESVILLE, Wis. — Seven businesses in Rock County were cited in an underage tobacco sales sting, Janesville police said Monday.
According to a news release, of the 56 businesses that were inspected, seven didn’t properly identify the age of the buyer before the sale.
Janesville police said the following businesses were cited on suspicion of sale of tobacco to a child:
5 Points Gas Station at 600 W. Milwaukee St.
Badger Spirits at 1507 Center Ave.
J&R Liquor at 1401 W. Court St.
Schnucks at 1501 Creston Park
Mulligans Gas Station at 3961 Milton Ave.
Clark at 1747 Center Ave.
Liquor Cabinet at 1924 E. Milwaukee
The city’s street crimes unit and the Rock County Youth 2 Youth program conducted the compliance checks at businesses’ selling tobacco products, finding the majority, 49 businesses, were compliant.
