Six people were arrested in an effort to serve more than 50 active warrants in Beloit on Thursday.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said the sweep was in support of the Beloit Police Department’s “Stop the Violence” initiative.

Eighteen warrants were cleared, including warrants for charges or battery, endangering safety by intoxicated use of a firearm, operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. One of the six was also arrested on suspicion of obstructing.

So far this year, 53 active warrants were cleared and 25 people were arrested in three warrant sweeps in Beloit.
