5 injured in two-vehicle crash

Med Flight called to scene

CENTER TOWNSHIP, Wis. — The Rock County Sheriff’s Department said five people had to be taken to a hospital following a two-car crash west of Janesville Monday evening.

One of victims had to be taken via Med Flight to UW Hospital, but none of victims face life-threatening injuries.

According to sheriff’s officials, a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old Janesville woman was heading east on county highway A west of Janesville, and was preparing to turn north onto county highway H. Sheriff’s officials said the truck turned in front of a minivan carrying five people going westbound on A.

The truck struck the minivan, sending the minivan into a 180-degree spin before it stopped about 25 feet off the roadway. The truck ended up in the eastbound lane of traffic.

The 32-year-old driver of the minivan was taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital, where his injuries were considered non-life-threatening. Four of the passengers were taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville for minor injuries. The driver was not hurt, but received medical attention at the scene.

Sheriff’s officials said the driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
