3rd student brew from UW-Madison goes into full production

MADISON, Wis. — The top craft beer from the University of Wisconsin-Madison student beer-brewing competition went into full production Wednesday.
This year’s brew, the Red Arrow Pale Ale, was named to honor the 32nd division of the Wisconsin National Guard.
The beer is part of a collaboration between the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Wisconsin Brewing Company. This is the third year the fermentation science class has been offered.
“They start out at the university in a very small brewhouse, so it’s only 40 hectaliters or half of a barrel,” Wisconsin Brewing Co. president and CEO Carl Nolen said. “The one behind me is 160 times bigger, so scaling it up to large production has been a lot of fun for them to see what it’s really like in the commercial reality of making beer.”
A launch party for the Red Arrow Pale Ale will be on April 28, and will kick off Madison Beer Week.
