3 schools to get water bottle refilling stations thanks to MWU donation

Water bottle refilling stations will be installed in three Madison elementary schools thanks to funding from Madison Water Utility, according to a release.
Students at Leopold, Huegel and Elvehjem elementary schools will be the first schools to get the bottle refilling stations, officials said.
The project is in cooperation with the Childhood Obesity Prevention Collaborative of Dane County Got Water Campaign, according to the release. The campaign promotes water as an easy, healthy beverage alternative.
The Madison Metropolitan School District is teaching healthy nutrition habits with its Wellness Plan, which does not allow schools to sell sugary drinks during the school day, officials said.
“Madison School District is grateful to the Madison Water Utility and Collaborative for making the project a reality,” the release said.
Two of the schools will be celebrating the new refilling stations during National Drinking Water Week, which is May 3-9. Students will receive free water bottles during the events thanks to donations from the YMCA, American Family Children’s Hospital and the Collaborative.
