3 men try to rob, assault woman outside UW-Whitewater bookstore, police say

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater police are investigating reports of an attempted armed robbery and sexual assault Wednesday morning, according to a university alert.

University police received a report around 1:50 p.m. of an attempted armed robbery and sexual assault that happened around 11:50 a.m., officials said.

The incident happened near the front entrance of the campus bookstore, according to the alert.

The female victim was approached by three men tried who to take her backpack and touch her inappropriately on the butt, police said.

The men are described as 18 years old, black and tall. One had dreadlocks and the other two had short cropped hair.

Officials ask anyone with information on the incident to call University police at 262-472-4660.
