3 men attack, cut victim with sharp object, police say

Officials ID skier who died after hitting tree at Cascade Mountain

A 38-year-old Madison man was attacked and cut by a sharp object on the east side early Sunday morning, Madison police said.

The man was walking in the 400 block of North Thompson Drive around 3 a.m. when another man called out to him and asked him a question, according to a release.

The man stopped to respond and was attacked, police said. He was hit several times by at least two men, and during the attack he was cut by a sharp object.

According to the release, the victim was able to get away from the three attackers and went to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation. A detailed description of the attackers was not available.
