3 bank employees taken to hospital after armed robbery

Police have no description of robbers

PLAIN, Wis. — Three bank employees in Plain were taken to a hospital after pepper spray was used in an armed robbery.

Sauk County dispatch said officers were called to People’s Community Bank at 1065 Main St. at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a bank robbery.

The masked robbers displayed directed their handguns at bank employees and forced them to turn over money from different areas of the bank, police said.

After a short time inside, the robbers directed bank employees to a corner of the facility and started to spray them with what officials believe was pepper spray, according to a release. They escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officials said the robbers were wearing dark-colored clothing with the majority of their faces covered. There’s no description of any vehicle used.

The bank employees were transported to Sauk Prairie Hospital for treatment for exposure to suspected pepper spray and were released, according to the release.

Ten to 15 officers from at least five jurisdictions responded to search the area, and the FBI office in Milwaukee was notified and is responding to assist in the investigation.
