22-year-old seriously injured in lawn mower accident

A 22-year-old was seriously injured in a lawn mowing accident Friday morning, officials said.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of an injured man at 11:20 a.m. on County Road MM.

John Armstrong, of Belleville, was mowing an embankment at the Payne and Dolan Gravel Pit for Messner Landscaping when the mower tipped and rolled several times, trapping him underneath, according to a news release.

Armstrong suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital.

Brooklyn and Oregon fire and EMS, along with Madison Fire Department paramedics also responded to the scene to assist. the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was also notified, officials said.
