Entercom Communications is letting midday host and program director Pat Gallagher go after 21 years at 105.5 FM WMMM in Madison. He served 15 years as program director.

His position is being eliminated, according to company officials.

According to the station’s website, Gallagher played a role in developing some of the station’s key initiatives, including programming that was focused on the community, music and the environment. He also interviewed numerous national artists.

Gallagher was also inducted into the first class of the Madison Radio and Music Hall of Fame and won numerous awards for programming and the radio station’s digital initiatives.

Gallagher also raised thousands of dollars for various charitable causes at marathons, bike rides, and triathlons, according to the station’s website.

“It’s a lot more than a job. It’s a great connection to a great community. I love Madison. It’s been fun being such an integral part of what Madison is all about,” said Gallagher.

Gallagher’s last air shift was from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday.
