A Brodhead man faces several fines Thursday after not signaling a left turn, causing a crash near Brodhead, deputies said.

Green County sheriff’s deputies responded around 6:15 a.m. to the N8100 block of Highway 104 for reports of a two-vehicle crash, according to a release.

Kerry A. Buehl, 51, of Brodhead, was driving north on Highway 104 when he attempted to pass a vehicle slowing down, investigators said. The other vehicle, being driven by 44-year-old Arnold L. Hansen Jr., of Brodhead, was attempting to turn but reportedly did not have his turn signal on.

The two vehicles collided as Buehl tried passing Hansen, according to the release. Hansen then fled the scene on foot.

Buehl was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. He was warned for passing into traffic making a left turn, officials said. Hansen was also not injured, but it is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.

Hansen will be cited for operating a motor vehicle after revocation, traffic crime, failure to indicate a turn and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
