2 teens mugged downtown, officials say

Two Madison teenagers were mugged early Sunday morning on East Johnson Street, according to a release.

Officials said a 19-year-old man and woman were walking on East Johnson Street between Wisconsin Avenue and North Hamilton Street when they were mugged Sunday around 5:15 a.m.

The two muggers approached them from behind and punched them several times in their heads, according to the release. The muggers fled with the teenagers’ money, credit cards and other personal property.

Officials said detailed descriptions of the muggers were not immediately available.
