2 People Injured In Car Vs. Tree Crash

Two people were injured when a car crashed in the Town of Montrose on Sunday afternoon.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said a Ford Mustang was traveling south on State Highway 69/92, near County Highway PB, when it passed another vehicle, hit a patch of black ice and lost control at around 1:10 p.m. The vehicle spun into a ditch and struck a tree, pinning the driver inside the car.

The Belleville Fire Department extricated the driver, who was flown to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A passenger suffered minor injuries.

Authorities on Monday identified the driver and passenger as Tony A. Hernandez, 25, of Brodhead, and Jessica E. Fuchs, 23, of Monroe.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said a preliminary investigation has revealed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Hernandez was cited for operating after suspension and unreasonable and imprudent speed, sheriff’s officials said.

Sheriff’s officials said both individuals were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, and both are expected to recover from their injuries.
