2 arrested for allegedly robbing Family Dollar at gunpoint

Police: Man spits into, jumps on hood, roof of car, scares 2 women inside

Two men were arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly robbing a Family Dollar store in Mauston at gunpoint, according to a post on the Mauston Police Department’s Facebook page.

Mauston police officers were sent to the area of Family Dollar for reports of an armed robbery around 2:45 p.m., officials said.

Officials were told Family Dollar was robbed at gunpoint, and that two men left toward the back of the store, according to the post.

A Mauston police officer saw a man matching the description in the area of Roosevelt Street running toward an apartment complex on McEvoy Street, officials said. Additional officers set up a perimeter, and both men were found inside the apartment complex.

The men, Jeremy W. Filocha, of Friendship, and Laython W. Fowler, of Baraboo, were arrested on a tentative charge of robbery with the use or threat of a dangerous weapon. Fowler was also arrested on an warrant out of Vernon County for failure to pay.
