1st round of Oscar Mayer terminations starts in February

The first round of terminations at the Oscar Mayer plant will affect 141 employees and is expected to start in February, according to a release.
Kraft Heinz Food Co. announced the closure in early November, saying that the Madison facility and six other manufacturing facilities will be closed over the next two years.
The terminations are expected to happen between Feb. 26 and June 24.
The Madison Oscar Mayer facility employs 1,000 people. Company spokesman Michael Mullen said 700 of those workers are in the factory.
Kraft Heinz also plans to expand its Davenport, Iowa, facility into a “state-of-the-art location” in the Davenport area.
The South Central Workforce Development Board is working with Oscar Mayer to provide rapid response services, according to the release.
