16-year-old steals cars in McFarland, police say

McFARLAND, Wis. — A 16-year-old boy from Minnesota is suspected of stealing two cars and punching the owner of a third vehicle in the face, according to a release from McFarland police.

Officers were called Saturday to the 5600 block of Lexington Street on a report of a stolen vehicle. It was found abandoned not far from where it had been parked. While officers were investigating, they received a complaint of another stolen auto in the 5700 block of Lexington Street. While investigating the second complaint, officers were called to the 6700 block of Sleepy Hollow Road on a report that a man was punched when he confronted someone who got into his vehicle. The attacker had run away, police said.

McFarland police and K-9 Boris began to track the suspect from the Sleepy Hollow Road location. Deputies reported that they had a suspect in custody near the intersection of Marsh Woods Road and Lewis Lane.

The suspect was driving the stolen vehicle from the 5700 block of Lexington Street, police said.

The boy admitted to stealing both vehicles on Lexington Street and entering vehicles to steal. No forced entry was used to steal the vehicles or to enter vehicles. He was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center on suspicion of two counts each of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and theft.
