Man falls from 3rd-floor balcony

A 12-year-old boy was was skateboarding across South Park Street was injured Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car, according to a release from Madison police.

Police said the boy made it to a center island on Park Street at Plaenert Drive while traffic had a green light when he tried to cross the remaining lanes during the “don’t walk” signal.

A 34-year-old man tried to stop his car but struck the boy while going about 10 mph, according to the release.

The boy suffered minor injuries. No citations were issued.
