1 of 3 witnesses to west side homicide taken into custody, police say
One of the three men Madison police were looking to talk with about a pub shooting that left a man dead on Madison’s west side earlier this month has been taken into custody.
Madison police said they were looking for William D. Flowers, 25, of Fitchburg, Billy N. Richmond, 35, of Fitchburg, and Travis G. Smith Jr., 28, of Madison, as part of the investigation into the murder of 30-year-old Martez Moore shortly after 1 a.m. on April 19.
Madison police said Richmond was taken into custody Monday afternoon in the 600 block of Badger Road on charges unrelated to the O’Grady’s murder.
Smith and Flowers are still at large, officials said.
Police are still investigating the incident that took place outside O’Grady’s Pub and Grille on Mineral Point Road.
Koval said police have wanted to interview Flowers, Richmond and Smith, but had been unable to find them. He said they are considered material witnesses but are not suspects in the murder. The three men also have multiple outstanding warrants against them and have been wanted by the department outside the Moore homicide investigation. But police believe the three men can provide police needed insight as they investigate the case.
Koval said no one is in custody, and very few people who witnessed the incident are willing to talk about what happened. He said police are urging anyone who has information about the incident, or who knows where Smith and Flowers are, to call the department or Crime Stoppers.
Anyone with information should call Madison police at 608-255-2345 or Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
